BRIEF

Three years in the making, this project officially began in March during my trip to Rwanda. Funded by Northeastern University, I conducted an independent research project aiming to improve Rungano-Ndota's impact report by establishing a concrete system to track personal wellness improvement amongst the youth in the program. While in Ruhango, I held workshops and ideation sessions with the RNI team building the foundation for their brand and website redesign. After my return to America, we continue to work together across time zones and oceans.

Emphasizing organizational growth through a revamped brand and website

WEBSITE

In my first act as President, I set out to redesign the organization's most important asset: its website. Unlike its single-page predecessor, the new site properly represented the community's growth, creativity, and inclusivity. Refocusing the organization towards the art and their creators. Four months after launch, we saw a significant 27% increase in submissions.

DEADLINE

New Brand and website to be launched by Inkera Y'Urungano 2026, RNI's annual graduation and business expo event held at the end of February. The project deliverables include a custom CMS-based website, banners, social media kit, impact report, t-shirts, wayfinding, and a brand book.

SPECTRUM MAGAZINE

Oversaw a creative organization of twenty-five students while having the freedom to expand my design skillset across graphic, web, and magazine design.

This project for Spectrum Magazine focuses on the journey to fully transform the website. A longtime coming, the prior Spectrum website served as a placeholder for events and announcements. I aimed to build a site that properly represented the community's growth, creativity, and inclusivity. The website redesign has already led to significant increases in magazine submissions, site visits, and membership.

reinventing the FACE of our creative community

THE
CHALLENGE

The Spectrum website redesign aimed to capture the vibrancy and creativity of our community. Our mission prioritized, displaying our openness/inclusivity, enhancing organizational visibility, and improving the experiencing of submitting art to the magazine.

Our project began with the development of a comprehensive site map and information architecture, optimizing content flow and ensuring an intuitive user experience. By meticulously defining the hierarchy and placement of each element, we significantly accelerated the design process. Although the site structure was straightforward, this systematic approach proved invaluable. It streamlined our immediate workflow and established a scalable foundation for future expansions. The resulting architecture serves as a robust blueprint, enabling seamless navigation and setting the stage for a user-centric design.

Next, we began building lo-fis of each page following brand guidelines while simultaneously defining a holistic design system for all future digital assets. From there we moved directly into designing in Wix as we understood that specifics of our hi-fidelity vision would be restricted by the web builder.

THE
OUTCOME

Four months after deployment, the redesign has already yielded exciting results, with a 36% increase in site visits and a 27% boost in submissions. Our strategic overhaul emphasized our community and submissions, utilizing visually striking art to craft a compelling aesthetic. Additionally, we officially defined our ui design system, ensuring a refined and intuitive user experience. Most importantly, I can confidently say that our website accurately represents the soul of Spectrum.
